Songs of five poets at Chhayanat's “Srotar Ashor”

Chhayanat's monthly musical soiree Srotar Ashor was held on October 18 at the Rameshchandra Dutt Memorial Auditorium, Chhayanat Sanskriti Bhaban. Students and teachers of Chhayanat and guest artistes rendered Pancha Kabir Gaan, songs of five poets (Rabindranath, Nazrul, Rajnikant, Atul Prasad and D.L. Roy) at the event.

With the auditorium full of enthusiastic audience, Nandita Dutt Dhara started the evening with a rendition of a Nazrul Sangeet titled Swoponey esho nirojoney. Nandita started her music lessons at the age of six. She enrolled in Chhayanat in Nazrul Geeti department when she was ten and after eight years, she graduated with a first class. Currently she is training under Shree Asit Dhar at Chhayanat. At the event, she also rendered a Rajnikant song, Madhur shey mukh khani.

Next was Latifun Julio's performance of a Tagore song, Jagey nath jochhna raatey. Two Nazrul songs by the same artiste followed.

A teacher of Nazrul Sangeet at Chhayanat, Rezaul Karim performed a song by Atul Prasad titled Eka mor gaaner tori. An enlisted artiste of Bangladesh Television and Betar, the artiste's rendition of songs of Rajnikant, D.L. Roy and Nazrul delighted the audience.

Noted artiste Laisa Ahmed Lisa's performance was a much-awaited one. She started with a devotional song of Rajnikant Sen, Shokha tomarey paaile aar. The rest of the songs by Lisa were Murali kaandey (Atul Prasad), Maloy aashia (D.L. Roy), Ohey sundar mamo and Firey esho hey (Tagore).

The last artiste to perform at the programme was Fahim Hossain Chowdhury. Talking about the current Bengali season Sharat, he started a song from "Rhitu Parjaye" by Tagore, Ebar obogunthan kholo. Another song from the "Rhitu Parjaye" followed. The popular song, Ami jeney shuney bish korechhi paan was next. Fahim wrapped up his performance with two songs from "Prem Parjaye", Ei udashi haowar and Ketechhe akela birohero bela.
